Product overview: Fluke Calibration 9144 Metrology Well
High-performance field dry-well for industrial temperature calibration
Built-in Features for Large Workloads and Common Applications
The Fluke 9144 Metrology Well is built to handle a wide range of field applications with speed, precision, and convenience. Whether calibrating 4–20 mA transmitters or thermostatic switches, the 9144 provides:
- Wide temperature range coverage with three model options: –25 °C to 660 °C
- Compatibility with PRTs, RTDs, thermocouples, and transmitters
- Optional “Process” version (914X-X-P) with a built-in two-channel thermometer readout, including 24 V loop power for 4–20 mA transmitters
Each process version:
- Accepts an ITS-90 reference PRT
- Features built-in readout accuracy from ±0.01 °C to ±0.07 °C
- Stores individual sensor calibration constants in the probe housing for interchangeable use
- Includes a second user-selectable channel for 2-, 3-, or 4-wire RTDs, thermocouples, or transmitters
With Field Metrology Wells, you no longer need to carry multiple devices into the field—one instrument handles it all.
Calibrate the Entire Loop, Not Just the Electronics
Traditionally, only the electronics of a temperature transmitter were calibrated—leaving the sensor unchecked. However, studies show that 75% of transmitter system error originates in the sensor. The 9144 enables full-loop calibration for more accurate and reliable results.
Onboard Automation and Documentation
The process versions include non-volatile memory for storing up to 20 calibration tests, each with:
- Unique alphanumeric ID
- Block temperature
- Reference temperature
- UUT values
- Error, date, and time
Results can be:
- Viewed directly on the front panel
- Exported via included Model 9930 Interface-it software for reports or raw ASCII data
- Integrated with the 1586A Super-DAQ for automated sensor calibrations
Automated Thermostatic Switch Testing
Field Metrology Wells support both auto and manual test setups:
- Auto setup requires just the nominal switch temperature and runs a 3-cycle calibration, displaying the dead band result
- Manual setup lets you fully customize ramp rate, cycle count, and test sequence
Both options are quick, accurate, and easy to use.
Uncompromising Metrology Performance
The 9144 meets the six key criteria established by EA guidelines for high-accuracy temperature sources:
- Accuracy
- Stability
- Axial (vertical) uniformity
- Radial (well-to-well) uniformity
- Loading effects
- Hysteresis
Each unit comes with an IEC-17025 NVLAP-accredited calibration certificate, backed by:
- High-quality traceable reference PRTs
- Rigorous uncertainty analysis
- 4:1 test uncertainty ratio
Display Accuracy:
- 9144: ±0.35 °C at 420 °C, ±0.5 °C at 660 °C
Stability:
- 9144: ±0.05 °C at 660 °C
- 9142: ±0.01 °C over full range
- 9143: ±0.02 °C at 33 °C, ±0.03 °C at 350 °C
Radial Uniformity: ±0.01 °C
Axial Uniformity: ±0.05 °C at 40 mm (1.6 in)

The Metrology Advantage
Fluke Metrology Wells are engineered by the same teams who support national labs and define the Kelvin—not by companies that “dabble” in temperature calibration.
Fluke’s deep expertise in metrology ensures:
- Published, verifiable specs
- Unmatched temperature performance
- Trusted results for demanding industrial environments
